I VALUE & RESPECT YOUR TIME
-
The whole process listed below should take about an hour. Sometimes a little less, sometimes a bit more. I ask that you allow for 1 hr 15 min in case we run into technical difficulties.

-
Although the occasional technical difficulty may cause delays, I will do my best to finish in 1 hr or less.

CONNECTING TO THE ONLINE INTERVIEW
-
For remote interviews I use a software called Riverside.fm. It is similar to Zoom and very user friendly.

-
About 15 minutes before your scheduled interview time, you will receive an email invitation to the video call with instructions and a link to connect.

-
You can connect on your computer, tablet or phone. If using your laptop/computer, you must use Google Chrome for your browser. If using a tablet or phone, you will want to download the Riverside.FM mobile app.

-
Please make sure you have everything you need before connecting to the interview.
-
A Quiet Space
-
If using a smart device make sure it is fully charged
-
If using a laptop, having it plugged in will produce the best quality recording
-
Reliable Internet Connection
-
A working camera on your device
-
Google Chrome for computer/laptop OR Riverside FM mobile app for tablet/phone (the video link email will prompt you to do this)
-
Plug in, wired headphones with microphone. NOT BLUETOOTH. THIS ONE is a good option.
-
External, plug in microphone if your headphones do not have one. NOT BLUETOOTH
-
Dongles or adapters to plug in headphones/microphone (if needed)
-

-
If you have any trouble connecting to the interview platform, please email me contact@theartofhomepodcast.com.

SOUND CHECK
-
Before we start recording, I will do a quick sound check while we get to know one another a bit and go over any questions you may have about the interview. Then we will begin the interview.

HAVE FUN!
-
My desire is for this to be a fun and engaging conversation.

-
If at any time you are uncomfortable with a question or with where our conversation goes, don’t hesitate to tell me and we can move on to something else. I can always remove parts of the conversation during the editing process.

-
I want you to feel that you can talk openly about your experiences within the boundaries you are most comfortable.

-
Above all, I will respect your privacy and the parameters you set.
Guest FAQs
-
What if I mess up or need to cough or sneeze?
-
The great thing about podcasting is that it is not a live broadcast. I can remove mistakes, coughs, sneezes and other noises in the editing process after we have recorded your interview.
-

-
What if the dog barks, doorbell rings, etc?
-
While I encourage you to arrange for Fido to be happily occupied in another room or outside, I can remove any unexpected and distracting noises in the editing process.
-

-
Will I have to be on camera?
-
Riverside FM allows us to see and hear each other while we record. I prefer to see you as this makes for a much more engaging conversation. If your computer or device does not have a working camera, we can conduct the interview with audio only.
-
If we are able to conduct the interview with video as well as audio, Riverside will record both, but I do not currently publish the video portion of remote interviews.
-

-
What if I can't think of an answer?
-
Because podcasting is not live, you can take your time forming your answer. I can edit out long pauses later.
-
If you just don't have an answer, no worries. Just say so and we can move on to the next question.
-

-
Can I promote my blog/book/business/ministry during the interview?
-
Yes! I will set aside time at the end of the interview for you to give information about your product, business or ministry.
-
I will also link all of the contact information you provide in the show notes of your episode and on the blog post for your episode.
-

-
Where will I be able to listen to my interview?
-
The Art of Home Podcast is available to listen on all podcast apps and directories. Some of the most common places to listen are: Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, Audible, Pandora, I Heart Radio, Google Podcast, Podbean, Podchaser, Overcast, etc.
-
You can also listen directly on our website HERE.
-

-
When will I be able to listen to my interview?
-
I try to batch-record and produce several interviews well ahead of the time they will actually go live. Therefore, it may be a month or more from the time of your interview to the time your episode goes live.
-
I will notify you as soon as I've assigned a release date to your episode.
-
I will also notify you the day your episode goes live.
-

-
How can I share my interview with friends and family?
-
The best way to share is through social media and email.
-
See our Guest Interview Sharing Guide HERE for more information.
-

-
What if I receive negative feedback from family about my interview?
-
I encourage you to carefully consider before hand how you will talk about others in your interview. See our Interview Best Practices Guide HERE.
-
Your story is yours. Others may not agree with your perspective or opinions and they may remember events differently, but this is still your story. Tell it with honesty and humility, practicing delicacy and tact as needed.
-
Having said that, it is easier to omit names and details BEFORE the episode goes live than it is to deal with angry friends and relatives AFTER it is released to the world. So while you are formulating an answer that includes sensitive situations or strained relationships, when in doubt, LEAVE IT OUT.
