In this episode, I'm chatting with Emily Steiger, a New Hampshire native, writer, and busy homemaker who is two years into marriage with her husband Sam. They’re raising a one-year-old and are also expecting baby number two later this fall.

Emily’s story is a beautiful reminder that you don’t have to wait for a wedding day or a set of house keys to begin cultivating homemaking skills. Emily started practicing long before she had a home of her own—meal planning, grocery shopping, cleaning, budgeting, and caring for others—simply by stepping into responsibility right where she was. And as she said so well, you really can’t be too prepared for becoming a homemaker.

In our conversation we talk about the realities of toddler season, pregnancy, and the ever-present need for flexibility. Emily shares what she’s learning about time management (especially when the day doesn’t go according to plan), simplifying your home so it can be picked up quickly, and letting go of the pressure to do it all.

We also dive into some deeper waters—comparison, social media boundaries, and what it looks like to trust God with outcomes when life doesn’t unfold the way you expected. Emily’s honesty and humility will encourage you, especially if you’re in a full season and wondering why the “perfect plan” never quite stays perfect.

If you’re needing a gentle nudge toward grace, simplicity, and faithfulness in the small things, this episode is for you.
