On to today’s homemaker portrait, I’m chatting with seasoned homemaker, Christa Sterken, who has been keeping a home for 37 years. She and her husband raised and homeschooled 2 girls and are enjoying their empty nest years where every day feels like a “date day”. Christa is passionate about creating a curated home full of joyful memories and has learned to embrace the beauty of ordinary moments in every season of homemaking.

CHRISTA'S FAVORITES
Hack or Tip
Christa loves vintage and retro decor and homemaking books and cookbooks. One hack she has seen over and over in her vintage book collection is to create a weekly homemaking schedule.
"Quit wasting mental energy trying to figure out what to do each day. Designate specific tasks on specific days."
For example, laundry on Monday, Bathrooms on Tuesday, etc. And if life happens and she doesn't get to the task one day, Christa doesn't sweat it because she knows she'll get to it next week.
Product or Resource
Christa has had the same Bath and Bodyworks cinnamon wall flower plug-in for every place she's ever called home. Something about that familiar smell, makes even the most unfamiliar environment feel like home.
We talked about the power of smell in a recent Monday Motivation, The Aroma of Home. You can check that out HERE. Christa's wall flower can be found HERE.
Signature Dish(s)
Enchilada Casserole and Mexican Chocolate Cake are always on the menu when Christa brings food for a meal train as well as the go-to menu for her Hospitality Template.
Allison's Update
As promised in Allison's Update from this episode, here are my chicken and tuna salad recipes. And don't forget to use your mixer to get the perfect texture out of your meats for making these salads.
